NAHA offers free, hands-on educational experiences for students K-12th grade. Our mobile unit showcases 4 skilled trades integral to the residential construction: Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC, and Plumbing.
Elementary programs
Construction relay race
During the Construction Relay Race, students will learn about construction safety, how to use tools such as a hammer, drill, and speed square while competing in a hands-on competition
Bird Feeder build
(10 students maximum per session)
During our Build It! experience, we will do a short, age-appropriate talk about careers in construction. Students will then work in pairs to complete a hands-on build project.

During our basic Intro to Construction experience, we will do a short, age-appropriate talk about different careers in construction as students walk through our mobile unit and learn more about the skilled trades related to the construction industry. Students will be able to use different tools by drilling a pilot hole, driving a screw, and hammering a nail in a 4x4 board.

High Rise Level Tower
Students work in teams to build a skyscraper using boards, dowels, and shims. The team with the tallest & most level tower wins! This is a great ice breaker or team building activity.

Construction Math-running a business
Students will then do a hands-on tape measure activity where they'll use their knowledge of fractions to accurately measure and sketch a layout of their classroom. Students will also learn how area and perimeter are used in construction. Using these skills, students will work in groups to redesign their classroom, choosing paint and flooring, hiring labor, and calculating their company profits.
